Celebrate Passover with one of the Best Adaptations of the Book of Exodus

It's hard to imagine that Dreamworks Animation was once given a blank check to create the animated masterpiece Prince of Egypt. This is the same studio that released Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon, but also the same studio that sent The Boss Baby and Trolls World Tour out into the world. There's no doubt that The Prince of Egypt is not only one of the best films to come from the animation studio, but also the darkest? I mean this story doesn't mess around. Following Dreamworks Animation's first film, Antz, The Prince of Egypt represented the studio's 2D debut and their first hand-drawn feature. It came at a time when a lot of other animation houses like Pixar were transitioning into CGI. It all starts with an intro that will hook anyone.

Featuring a "Deliver Us," a song written by Stephen Schwartz, Prince of Egypt instantly shows what's at stake. I watched the film the other evening with my child and they instantly wanted to know why these people were being [enslaved] and whipped. The scene quickly transitions to Yocheved and her children as they place the young child who would become Moses in a basket. A mother grieving that it'll be the last time she sees her child. It's heavy, but it needs to be.
