Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone Collaborate Again for Bugonia
Emma Stone in Bugonia

Not every movie from director Yorgos Lanthimos is a home run. For every movie that I love, like Poor Things or The Favourite, there are movies like Kinds of Kindness or The Killing of a Sacred Deer that don't interest me in the least. He's certainly not a director who I would feel comfortable recommending his movies. At least with someone like Steven Spielberg, you kind of know what you're getting. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether that's a plus or minus.

Emma Stone is one of Hollywood's most impressive actresses. Since her first film appearance in 2007's Superbad, she's done everything from superhero movies (the same year she appeared as Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, she was in the Academy Award-winning film Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). After she won her first Academy Award for Best Actress for 2016's La La Land, she began collaborating with Lanthimos on a number of projects. Together they've done four feature films and one short film. This relationship helped her earn another Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Poor Things, entering a unique club of actresses who've won the award multiple times.

Their most recent project, now in theaters, is the feature film Bugnoia. It's a remake of the South Korean feature, Save the Green Planet. The film is about two men, Teddy (Jesse Plemons) and Don (Aidan Delbis), who are convinced that the high-profile CEO Michelle Fuller (Stone) is an alien. The men devise a plan to kidnap Michelle and attempt to force her into revealing her allies and spaceship.
